More than a clean energy company.
In 2018, we opened our doors in the US to pursue renewable energy development in a new way. We put the shared success that comes from partnering with communities at the forefront of our mission and built a team of individuals who excel in their fields and embrace that mission wholeheartedly.
Leading by example, our parent company EnBW AG has a storied track record of being a good neighbor to the communities they partner with, engaging local leaders along the way. We take the same approach to our projects in the US, working together to provide economic and environmental opportunities that meet the needs and interests of communities.
Building a clean energy future. Together.
EnBW North America partners with communities to establish renewable energy solutions that will deliver lasting economic and environmental benefits to achieve our shared climate goals.
We’re on a mission to ensure our clean energy solutions and business operations work toward greater public health and economic opportunity for all.
As a community partner, we seek out the voices and perspectives of our diverse stakeholders. We are committed to an ongoing and transparent dialogue that leads to collaborative solutions.
Our parent company has a history of imagining and building a better energy future to meet local and national clean energy challenges – we bring that same drive and creativity to meet the unique needs of the US. From floating offshore wind technology to battery storage, we are innovating our way to a smarter, more inclusive renewable energy industry.
Projects to power our future
Where: New Jersey & New York
Technology: Fixed bottom offshore wind
State target: Supporting New Jersey’s target of 50% renewables by 2030 and New York’s target of 70% renewable energy by 2030 advancing the states’ ambitions on their paths to achieving 100% clean energy.
Local engagement:
- We have activated early engagement efforts to advance supply chain and workforce development, academic and research partnerships, and mariners’ involvement in the New York Bight.
- Before obtaining a federal lease from the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), our Fisheries Outreach Team has developed a Fisheries Communication Plan and has spearheaded early engagement efforts with fishing industry throughout the New York Bight.
- Ongoing outreach to federal, state, and local entities continue to inform our engagement goals leading to a federal lease auction in 2021.
Where: Morro Bay, Central California
Technology: Floating offshore wind
State target: Supporting California’s 100% emission-free energy by 2045 goal
Local engagement:
- Since mid-2015, the Castle Wind project team has been engaged with the Morro Bay Commercial Fishermen Organization and the Port San Luis Commercial Fishermen Association resulting in a mutual benefits agreement among the three parties. A fund was also established to be used for improvements to the infrastructure at Morro Bay Harbor and Port San Luis, as well as grants to reduce impacts to the commercial fishing industry.
- Additionally, a Community Benefits Agreement approved by the Morro Bay City Council ensures Castle Wind will align with the local community throughout development, construction and operation of the offshore wind farm to coordinate and maximize the economic benefits of the project.
- Castle Wind signed an MOU with Central Coast Community Energy (Monterey Bay Power Community) that outlines the intent of both parties to enter into future long-term Power Purchase Agreements for approximately 1,000 MW.
- We continue to explore local infrastructure and supply chain opportunities to meet the needs of floating technology in Central California.
